There are details below if you would like to become an umpire for Farningham Cricket Club.

We as a club will pay for your training as long a you use this skill with us for 2 years otherwise you will have to repay the outlay.

For a number of reasons - especially in relation to the introduction of the recent new Cricket Laws by the MCC - it has taken us longer than usual to arrange our series of Umpire Training Courses for the first quarter of 2023. I am however now pleased to confirm that arrangements have finally been completed. Details are below.

By way of providing some background to the courses:

Stage One is designed to give an overview of the basic Laws of the Game and how to apply them, and introduce the principles of field craft and match management. It provides the tools to enable the participant to umpire matches at the basic recreational level where there are no independent umpired appointed.

Stage Two gives further knowledge and skills, complimenting Stage One by looking beyond basic Laws, building on field craft, match management techniques and introduces the concept of working as a team, with a colleague and scorers.

Please note that Stage Two is available to anyone who has attended and completed Stage One (face-to-face or online) – although both courses can be booked at the same time. Each course costs just £30, with booking and payment an online process via links to be provided. However, a discount code, which will be provided when a booking of the face-to-face Stage One course is acknowledged, can be used to reduce the cost of the Stage Two course to just £10. Please note however that this discount will not be available if Stage One is taken and completed by way of the free online version.
