On a cloudy day with rain forecast, Farningham Sunday XI welcomed the BBC Bushmen lead by "our man at the BBC" Harry. Owing to
a mix-up with availability, FCC were one man short and were generously loaned a bowler and expert fielder for the day. Captains reduced the number of overs to 35, and having won the toss the Bushmen opted to bat first. It soon became clear that the visitors weren't planning to hang around long defending. A few sharp chances were put down and the opposition capitalised. Some tight bowling from Sweepy and Lofty followed, but their opening pair put on 185 runs before Kishan retired on 101 runs. Daniel bowled out Harry attempting a late cut and Jacko had Lambert leg before. However, their middle order had clearly played the game before at a higher level and the Bushmen ended the day with 269 for 2, an ominously high total. The visitors mixed their bowling up a bit and allowed our openers to get in, but before long wickets began to fall and FCC were reduced to 51 for 3. Junior Doc then came to the crease and proceeded with the fight back. Senior Doc offered consultations (for a fee), but it wasn't needed and Daniel brought up his first ever 50 with a sweep. Finally, the partnership of 88 was broken and Sweepy Dave came in and carried on with a majestic 6 hit over the pavilion. Several wickets tumbled at the end with Daniel ending on a magnificent 81 and the total at 198 for 9 with Dave on 31 no. Although a large margin of victory, not a bad performance against a strong team. On to the derby match next week away at Eynsford.
